Process Equipment
Rotary Cooking Drum.
The Fairport rotary cooking drum is an alternative to the extrusion process for cereal production. The drum is manufactured from stainless steel in the form of four cones complete with two end plates for total discharge. The drum features a 400mm diameter inlet, for filling/ emptying and a 2 plugged socket for draining purposes. The internal design ensures the steam is directly injected into the grits and liquor and that the vapour extraction is taken from the air void above the grits. Both operations are continuous whilst the drum is rotating. The rotation of the drum reduces the risk of blockages, over pressurisation and negates the requirement for cyclic charging of the injection and extraction thus reducing pipe work and valves. The hollow bore shafts are tapped to accept steam and exhaust pipe work supported on mild or stainless steel rolled hollow section A frames. One of these frames support the main chain drive motor enclosed in a stainless steel guard cover. The cooker is complete with a 400mm diameter stainless steel discharge slide valve either mechanically driven from a static motor or pneumatically operated.
