The Herford Union canal, also known as Duckett's Cut, was opened in 1830 and is 1 mile long with 3 locks.
The canal was promoted by Sir George Duckett but was not a commercial success and became unnavigable after only 20 years.
It was acquired by the Regent's Canal Company in 1857 and then by the Grand Union Canal Company in 1929 and is now managed by British Waterways. |
